Could be a lot of things. Are you using an alternative terrain generator?
Not to my knowledge. I use the Highlands, Mystcraft and New Biospheres mods, but the world in question is an ordinary Overworld-preset superflat and the problem happened in the overworld. I can provide a crash report that includes my current mod list if that helps.
There's a good chance it's the superflat world. Does it work for you in an ordinary world?
I just tested, and yes, in a default world I am getting veins of ore.
Thing is, though, if even vanilla ATGs break the mod and only the default worldtype will run the custom generation, it's kinda useless to me. I haven't made a default world in years, it's all either deep superflats or Highlands worlds, with a side of Mystcraft ages. The convenience of a superflat is about the only thing that will pull me away from the new biomes of Highlands.
I am working in my first COG-enabled world, in 1.7.10 because that's where most of my mods stopped updating. Despite having most of the options set to producing veins, all the ores in the overworld are generating in the standard vanilla deposits. Same in the various dimensions produced by Mystcraft. However, I just went to the Nether, and found the Nether Quartz generating in large hollow veins. What's up?
