Very interesting post. One nit: the XGP was indeed one of the first raster printers, but it used a cathode ray tube rather than a laser to scan the raster onto the xerographic drum. It was only 192 dots/inch, compared to the 300-400 dots/inch of the later laser printers. https://saildart.org/allow/pdf/SAILON/74/find-a-font.pdf (which is currently down because of a power failure) shows all the interesting XGP fonts used at Stanford.
