I took a ride with a Guy from Moshav Idan on the Arava district. Its a remote and isolated district of Israel. He told me they do a lot of ride sharing - non real time - and could use an app. Actually he thinks if an app existed everyone would join relatively quick since ride sharing already exists in their culture.
But - currently they do non real time ride sharing: When someone needs to travel up north to Beer Sheva or Tel Aviv he sends some message (whats up / sms) the day before to check if anyone plans to travel up north. Many of these travels are pre planned by nature - both for riders and drivers, and many times the rider doesn't have a strict schedule, so he can join any relevant ride in a certain time range.
I am curious - could our app cover this type of ride sharing? Since many remote areas have the same culture it could also be a very good market penetration strategy.
Do notice this type of solution doesn't require critical mass. It involves a different go to market strategy.
