Hi @gabrielbauman,
Sure why not! Are you one of maintainer of the gtksourceview project?
The licence of this project is already LGPL, see there https://github.com/lbdremy/gedit-jade/blob/master/jade.lang#L7-L20. Or maybe something is wrong? Let me know thanks.
Oh, cool, I read the license as GPL. My bad.
I am not a maintainer for gtksourceview but I have contributed in the past.
If you like, I can go ahead and submit it using my bugzilla account. If you want to do it yourself, go for it!
Ok great, I will do it, no worries :). Do you think it will be merged even if the syntax highlight does not support everything available in jade i.e block comments and block expansion?
It'll be accepted, no problem. Better to have mostly-there support than none. Many more people will benefit from this once you submit it since it will eventually be installed by default on thousands of Linux machines.
Thanks for your work!
Awesome I'm going to do this now. I will paste the link of the ticket here.
Hi there,
It would be great if you would submit this for inclusion in the gtksourceview project. This would make Jade highlighting available by default in gedit, anjuta and other gtksourceview-based editors.
You would need to relicense the work to LGPL. In order to do this you would have to contact any contributors and get their permission to relicense.
Once the relicensing is done, you'd need to open a ticket at https://bugzilla.gnome.org/browse.cgi?product=gtksourceview and attach the file. A maintainer will look it over and commit it.
Hope you will consider this! It would really be appreciated.
