Events and news #4

  1. We seemed to be able to delete events & news. Is this because we have administration rights? Or can anyone who is logged in do this right now? Can this be changed? Otherwise anyone could delete crucial information.
  2. If you click on an event or on a news item, the identity of the person who saved the item is shown above, is it possible to move this to the bottom of the message? Right now, this may lead to the faulty impression, that the person inserting a news item is also responsible for the content – which is not necessarily the case. For this reason, we would prefer it that the name of the person who inserted the news item into the system would not be visible in the thumbnail of the news item.
  3. Luther Blissett is currently appearing as the person posting information. Is this a bug or is this the identity that you used in order to add events and news?
  4. Is there an email that will be sent around automatically when we add news and/or events?

  1. Yes, siteadmins (and you are assigned to this role) can administer content and delete everything. Users can only edit and delete their own content.
  2. We changed this already in the new version. But it is good point, that we dont need to much information from somebody who posted an event. For news this might be different. It would be nice to highlight the author. Would you like another field for author, which may not be the person who actually inserted the news on the page?
  3. Both :)
  4. No, user will have a newsletter button and they can trigger when they want to send out a newsletter. This is deactivated right now.

  1. Great!
  2. Great, thanks. @jangermuller @zienkowski, any ideas about this. I don't have an opinion on this.
  3. Great name, by the way. It sounds a bit like a saxophone player from the 80s :)
  4. OK this is an important feature! It needs to be made very clear to users if emails will be sent around or not. There needs to be a brief note that emails might take up to several hours (?) to be delivered. On the old website what happened often is that people who inserted events were impatient and clicked 'send newsletter' (or whatever it was called) multiple times because they themselves didn't receive the email instantly. This meant that all 4000 users received the same message multiple times, sometimes five to ten times. If possible, this should be avoided. Is it possible perhaps, to deactivate the 'send newsletter' button, once it has been used?

True, we don't need the user for event. was that the question?

Well, there should be a trace somewhere of the author since anonymous postings won't work well and the author of the item is more important in news than in events.
