two additional examples with simplified parameter input and Stokes polarisation parameter determination #37

Closed dchutchings closed 2 years ago

examples/ex_modesolver_dch.py Additional example for the finite difference mode solver for isotropic media

parameter input is simplified with rectangular regions defined in the geom tuple

examples/ex_modesolver_dch_anis.py Additional example for the finite difference mode solver for anisotropic media.

parameter input is simplified with rectangular regions defined in the geom tuple

mode profile is also plotted in terms of position Stokes parameters, and the average Stokes parameter values are determined. This aids the analysis of polarisation dependencies.

@dchutchings Thanks for the additional examples. This PR is still marked as "Draft". Does it mean you need more work on it? Or can I review/merge?

Hi Lorenzo,

These don't need any more work from me - I've been using and passing to students for some months. The user would edit the "geom' tuple to define their transverse geometry.

Happy for you to review and merge as appropriate to make available to a wider audience.

Thanks David Hutchings
