Thanks for the feedback and suggestion, but it's not something we'll be looking into anytime soon. We are still focusing on our own ecosystem vs trying to integrate with others.
@Retew could you explain more about what you were envisioning here?
IMO it doesn't really make sense for LBRY services or applications themselves to pursue federation because the blockchain is effectively a replacement for federation (rather than pub/sub the blockchain is a record of everything).
However if there are things we could do to make other services aware of content that has been published to LBRY, that's something we could look at.

Sure you can. Fediverse is not only about decentralization, but also connection and integration of services.
Via Activity-pub Fediverse provides opportunities for using external services without having to leave the one you're at. For example, imagine if you were able to subscribe to Twitter accounts and read them from Facebook, or write to a Telegram user from your Whatsapp and posting to Instagram with your Youtube account. That's all supported in Fediverse.
I see a huge opportunity for LBRY here as it would make starting using it a smoother experience increasing the reach. It would also provide easier sharing for the content published on LBRY across the network. Plus, as Fediverse is growing pretty quickly, LBRY can benefit from it too.
I see it as a win-win situation for both Fediverse and LBRY users, because LBRY might be a good candidate to take the niche of YouTube among the free decentralized alternatives to the traditional services Fediverse provides. We have our own Twitter, our version of Facebook, our alternative to Instagram, but free YouTube is still not there and LBRY might become it. @kauffj
However, Fediverse philosophy promotes zero data harvesting and as far as I know there is some present in LBRY. I might be wrong though.
This would be a great feature. I think both LBRY and the rest of Fediverse would benefit from it.
Fediverse is a quickly growing overlay network that provides simple access and integration of different sites and services with it's own open protocol called activity-pub. You can read more about it here.
The most popular video sharing service in Fediverse is PeerTube. However, PeerTube is not that great, and LBRY seems to be a good alternative to it, especially considering it has a similar philosophy and wider functionality. So it would be nice, if you as developers added Fediverse integration to LBRY. Hope you will consider doing it. Anyway, thanks for the work you are doing!
