Toward fix for #10. #11

@lcdservices Any thoughts on this? I may go ahead and run this as a fork on my client's site (which would allow us to give it some real-world testing and help inform the merge decision), but was hoping to get your feedback first.

Closing in favor of the much less convoluted fix in #13.

Re-opening. I was mistaken that #13 would address the fix for #10 . It does not, but this one does.
