Thanks for the example, I'll get on to creating a proper setup soon! What's the ldc-developers.ldc2.snap check that is queued ... ?

You're welcome - that's an old pipeline name, don't know why it's queued, but probably nothing to worry about.

Wrt. docker and the apparently required snapcore/snapcraft image, you can try the docker task, see https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/devops/pipelines/tasks/build/docker?view=azure-devops, or probably just start a container manually.

Whoops, didn't realize this was in a local branch -- I guess intended so I could force-push and overwrite it?

Anyway, we can close, as the alternative PR I submitted seems to be doing something vaguely reasonable: https://github.com/ldc-developers/ldc2.snap/pull/66
