Open schadwe opened 2 weeks ago

schadwe commented 2 weeks ago

Page(s)

Restaurant.

Inaccuracy

Restaurant at level 3 (dark oak medieval) does not have an assistant cook option. Minecolonies Butter cannot be made.

Fix

Make sure all of the pages are correct. before releasing changes.

If the wiki had to update before the mod was updated, the mod would never get updated =P

Understandable, but the wiki page is incorrect. This mod was supposedly updated over a year ago with this feature. Wiki states at restaurant level 3 there is an assistant cook. There is no assistant cook in a medieval dark oak level 3 restaurant. And yes, you should update the documentation BEFORE release with info in the wiki about which version the update pertains to, even if it's a version that's unreleased. Yes, it's a lot lot of work, but it means valid data is always available with version info. It gets a bit frustrating to end users when we go to find out why something is not working right, only to find outdated/incorrect info. We get hammered about this at my software company a lot! LOL ;)

Until a few weeks ago it was completely correct, for several years there has been an assistant cook. Now it depends on the version you are playing. Assuming you are on a currently supported version, read the chef/cookery pages, they have replaced the assistant cook. Wiki's are not official documentation for the mod. If you want to see changes, read the changelogs, watch github, read the actual documentation done on changes by the devs. Wiki's by nature are maintained by the community, not the devs. And currently I think the build system is not working, so no changes can be made anyway (am not a dev, so not 100% sure of the problem atm) No need to be quite so demanding for a community maintained resource.

Minecolonies uses a community resource as it's primary documentation, therefore it needs to be updated religiously. Well, you guys do what you want. I can only open the door for you, I cannot make you walk through it.

The problem is, nobody actually updates anything. I've primarily took the wiki under my wing, but more for technical management. I'm not good at actually writing content, like you said yourself it's a "community resource", yet the community is not helping keeping it up-to-date.

Also as an additional note, merely posting an issue isn't going to resolve any problems. If you see something problematic, it's good if you report it, but you can also follow it up with a pull request to fix it yourself. And if you don't know how to do so, fine, but then you have no ground to stand on to start demanding anything.
