Leisure is planned
Since children is free most of the time, plus their playful characteristic, they should be affected the most in this update. Children could stop and talk to guards in the day, inspired from baby villagers stare at iron golems. Children could also have games and joyful behavior and act, play with other children, run around aimlessly in the colony, when they're out of school. Inspired from baby villagers playing tag. Children could also run and play inside of structures except the school.
One thing I found sad with the citizen housing is that, despite the beautiful house I build for them, it never seem as they are really enjoy or appreciating the beautiful aesthetic. Maybe in this update they can run, play or sit in the house before heading off to beds at late night. Citizens will use stair to sit like visitors, they will stand at balcony, a balcony or wander around their house perimeter. Feature was also inspired from Tektopia, which seem to have features focused on villagers to be immersive, likely, they have self needs for entertaining and leisure, sorry for comparing the two mods.
Can you add in town square as a leisure structure?
If anything, citizens should have a new happiness factor that will contribute to the overall happiness of the citizen and ultimately, the whole colony, it is Pleasure, which can be increased via various actions such as:
All of these leisure stuff should be configurable, like maybe instruct a "curfew" policy in the townhall that will put off any night time entertaining, this allows young colonies to have a chance to fortify themself. Other advanced activities should be an unlockable via the University.

As it stands, research allows two extra hours working in the evenings. This is limiting future developments, and causes problems with mob spawns in developing areas. Vanilla villagers are actually more advanced with their work/social/sleep schedules.
Enhancement or Change description
I would like to see the extra work hours replaced with two features - first, increase efficiency and productivity while working so the overall productivity remains level with the current system. This may be covered by increasing the effects of some of the current research rather than adding new research paths. Rather than working later, instead have one, then two hours of social time in the evenings. Colonists congregate at the Tavern, Restaurant, Town Hall, University (maybe?) or in their homes for a while before going to bed. This will reduce the need to stop working during the day to visit the restaurant, if they picked up food the night before. It will simplify what areas need to be mob-proofed in a developing town. It will also enable future expansion for further forms of entertainment.
Notes or related things
It's one feature I really like with the Vanilla Villagers, the way they work to a schedule and have essential social time, and it seems like the concept would work really well for the colonists as well.
