KCAL PER MINUTE STEPPING How many kcal/minute burned during stepping? In the expression below you can replace the '8' (step height inches), the '40' (steps per minute -- remember both horizontal & vertical), and the '137' (weight in lbs) values:

40 * .35 + 8 * .0254 X 40 X 2.39 * (137/2.204623)5.001

40 steps/minute X .35 ml O2/kg/min + 8 inch step height X .0254 meters/inch X 40 steps/minute X 2.39 ml O2/kg/min X 137 lbs/2.204623 lbs/kg * 5 kcal/Liter O2 consumed X .001 Liters/ml = 20 kcal/min
