Currently exfalso does not support view/add/change album art. It should support
tagging audio files with cover art, similar to easytag. Users should be able to
add/change/delete album art tagged to audio files.

Many audio formats do not support embedded art, so this is probably not
feasible.
Patches may be considered.

Maybe instead of just embedding cover art into the file, there could be an
option to
save it to the folder (my preferred method) as cover.jpg or something.

Merging my comment (back) from #139:
Has there been any discussion about embedding downloaded album art to FLACs
alone
(and then being able do view it too of course)? It seems very do-able with
Vorbis
comments (metaflac does it) but I'm having trouble finding anything that will
display
it.
This would be especially useful if/when your directory structure *isn't*
folder-per-album (allowing the usual .folder.jpg etc), or if you have a whole
album
per file / podcasts or whatever (two things I have quite a lot of..). FLACs
have the
additional 'advantage' of being large enough that even half a meg extra won't
be a
significant change in file size..

The following comment can add the album art to the flac files
metaflac --import-picture-from=folder.jpg *.flac
Would it be possible to create a plugin from it?

On a similar embedded image note, what about removing embedded images using ex
falso?
I prefer the per-folder art option because it uses less space than art in each
track's file, but have to date had to use other tools to extract art from
tracks.

makes sens to me. I can't clean (&save the pic) of files with album art.

Album art inside the mp3 file has the advantage that it is copied with the file
and can't get lost.
This is a nice feature for use with other tools :-)

Any news on this subject?
Sorry for the ping, but the issue is open since October 2008, 4 years ago.

Half the problem here is that this ticket seems like several separate
requirements:
1. Add ability to embed album art to files using GUI (where supported)
2. Add a (workaround) plugin to embed album art to FLACs only
3. Already-implemented changes to the album art detection algorithms (and I
suppose the Album Art Downloader plugin)
4. Already-implemented support for WMA cover-art (and tests)
5. Add feature to strip embedded album art, where this is supported and
detected.
