As a fun Sunday afternoon exercise, let me try to fill in those 9 squares. LedgerLoops is a way trade could function in a network, but the canvas assumes there's an offering, so I think I could fill it in for the idea of building a smartphone app that allows the user to act as a participant in a LedgerLoops network:
Apart from the consumer market, there might be more room for doing the same for B2B (e.g. Cyclos), clubs/hackerspaces, professional networks like Seats2Meet, or the (apparently) 2 billion people world-wide who work in the informal economy.
What customer group(s) do you want to target?
informal economy workers
What is the customer need?
lower transaction fees? borrow money at lower rates?
What is preventing your group from purchasing or feeling satisfied with your product or service?
network effect; it's only useful if at least triangles get detected
What activities need to be performed? Who will do it? In what order?
build the app, try it out, promote it
What can you offer to satisfy the customer need and remove barriers?
attractive, easy-to-use app with high probability of borrowing money at a low rate
What are your revenue streams and how will customers pay?
if LedgerLoops becomes a thing and we built the main app for it then that's got to open up some ways to offer paid services to people (even though participating in the network should always be free, including an open source app to do so always being available)
What value does your offering, business model, and revenue model provide for the customer?
exploiting the unique insight of LedgerLoops as a novel way to coordinate trade
What kind of strategic, operational, and financial value does your strategy provide your company?
becoming the default app for participating in a LedgerLoops network
What kind of strategic, operational, and financial value does your strategy provide your ecosystem partners?
Making the use of LedgerLoops more wide-spread
