DFE not surviving ROM update/install #1

Open Avrution opened 2 months ago

Avrution commented 2 months ago

Phone is a Oneplus 7T. Tested on two of them.

Flashing the file, wiping data and then booting a fresh ROM works perfectly.

Installing an update for that ROM or even flashing the ROM onto the other slot and the data partition must be formatted again.

leegarchat commented 2 months ago

After flash new rom/update rom, need flash dfe again, without format data

For twrp Flash rom Flash dfe neo

For ota update Wait completed installing ota process Flash dfe neov1 or neov2 method with magisk app or ksu app Reboot device with fresh rom

Avrution commented 2 months ago

First step listed is exactly what I tried, but the data partition still ends up being encrypted. Even tried installing to both slots.

send the log file to the dfe installation ambassador /Sdcard/neo_file_date.log Or /tmp/dfeneov2_tmp/file.log

Avrution commented 2 months ago

Do you want me to do the log after updating the rom or after the first install when starting fresh?

leegarchat commented 2 months ago

Well, you write about the fact that your data is encrypted. Provide dfe installation log before data is encrypted

neo_file_21_04_24-05-04-52.log

Anything else you might need from me on this? Just flashed a new rom and reflashed dfe and stuck again with having to wipe the partition in order to boot.

This might work for you.

For twrp Step 1 Backup data Flash rom Flash dfe neo Format data Reboot, and wait until welcome screen appears Step 2 Reboot to twrp Restore data Reboot

Might work, but that is sure a lot to go through each time there is an update.

It's actually not too bad, from my perspective. I backup/restore data regularly so I don't count backup/restore steps as much effort. Start them, go do something else, and check back in a few minutes.

I'll give it a shot on my spare phone. Had to buy another just for testing this stuff since I cannot afford to mess up my main phone.

scottyrick commented 6 days ago

Let me know either way. Thanks

Took about 3 hours, but seems to work. Would be so much easier and faster if phone didn't get rid of sdcards. This didn't even include making the backup, so doing it on the real phone will probably take 4-5 hours.

Is It Compatible with qpr3 Roms?

scottyrick commented 5 days ago

I have never bought a phone without an sdcard, so far.

Avrution commented 5 days ago

Getting harder and harder to find those and even harder to find one that works with my phone service. Had to just give in and deal without having access to one.
