Implement "Quick Stream" possibility #16

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
At the moment u need at least 3 Clicks to start a Stream.

A "Quick Stream" function should be added, which uses the last used settings
for Streaming.

I think it will be even better if this function is added as small "play" icon
for each channel in the channel list. May be divide the right touch zone
vertically and use the top one for this "play" icon while the bottom one should
continue to popup the menu.
Does this sound reasonable?

I'm new to this android app and i'm loving it. Sure, you can use MediaHouse or
BubbleUPNP for direct streaming, but this is the only one that gives us
Transcoded Streaming, so much needed for HD channels that don't play nice with
direct stream.

How i would make it perfect:

- A direct touch on the channel should start streaming the channel. Just like
that!
- Touching the small arrow on the bottom right of the channel should bring up
the the extras: "Go to epg, configure streaming for this channel etc etc"
- Every channel should have custom streaming settings.
- I want to configure all my sd channels to quick start in "direct streaming"
mode and all HD ones in "transcode" mode, quality "5120", preset: "faster".

Will we ever get something like this?

Thanks!

A direct touch on a channel will never start streaming directly, a lot of users
dont care about streaming (like me ;-)) and touching a channel should show epg
in my oppinion.

I could imagine touching the channel LOGO for streaming, long touching the
channel logo (or the channel itself like it is now) shows the contect menu and
the button at the right could vanish, so there would be more room for showing
the current programm.

Individual Stream setting could be possible, but dont expect it coming soon,
its summer :-)

Thanks for the answer. It looks like some work is needed for all the stuff i
was talking about, but today something easy came to my mind. How about just
this simple default change in the "stream configuration" window?

Quality - HD 5210
Preset - Faster

That's all. If the window would default to those settings, things would be much
faster as it would save lots of scrolling and clicks to change from 512kbit and
ultrafast every time to the desired values...

I know it's summer, but i keep my fingers crossed for a new version ~soonish
with just this simple thing. :D

Take care!

Right now im implementing the Wake On Lan feature.

After that i will save the last used streamsettings and those setting will be
the default settings when you try to stream another channel.

I think thats a start :-)

Maybe the next version is coming from the Play Store... It is time :-)

The latest Beta allows streaming by clicking on the channel logo. The last used
settings are used to stream.

I think thats enough for now ;-) so im closing this issue.

Storing the stream settings for each channel isnt high priority, if it is
necessary pls open another issue.
