While LeftWM itself is MIT licensed, LeftWM-Theme is BSD licensed. Although, to the best of my knowledge, these two licenses are compatible, it may be prudent to relicense LeftWM-Theme with the MIT license to be consistent throughout the LeftWM ecosystem.
I therefore propose the following options:
Leave LeftWM-Theme as BSD, and move LeftWM to BSD
Leave LeftWM as MIT, and move LeftWM-Theme to MIT
Continue with the license discrepancy as-is
Move both LeftWM and LeftWM-Theme to the MPL 2.0
I personally prefer options 2 or 4, as they will allow LeftWM to move closer to being a library upon which many LeftWM flavors might be built while also providing some consistency between the different projects within LeftWM.
I suppose I also should ask why we have the two different licenses to start with, as this change does affect past decisions as well.
Thoughts? Tagging @lex148, @mfdorst, @darkowlzz (as y’all have contributed code to leftwm-theme in the past).
We probably should decide this prior to releasing leftwm-theme on crates.io or Copr.
