No issue on Firefox 51.0.1 (32 bit) on Windows 10 x64.
Can you please try if it happens with a clean profile and without any other add-ons enabled (especially as you note you also use Classic Theme Restorer and it might be an add-on incompatibility)
same problem - has something to do with either Classic Theme Restorer 1.6.1 when option to use old search bar is selected, which may have something to do with the recent FF update 51.0.1 - problem surfaced after the FF update
Confirmed this is a compatibility issue with Classic Theme Restorer.
The following errors are logged on error console while typing and pressing enter respectively:
TypeError: this.popup.oneOffButtons is undefined[Weitere Informationen] search.xml:803:11
TypeError: this.popup.oneOffButtons is undefined[Weitere Informationen] search.xml:779:11
You might want to notify the author of Classic Theme Restorer, too, as I have not yet tracked down the source of the issue.

already did - thanks!
I just installed FF 52 beta and this issue no longer occurs. So I guess this issue will be obsolete in a couple of months.
However - I have noticed another issue with FF 52 beta and SearchWP. If you click on the word to search in page, then the FF find bar pops open if the word was not found.
After SearchWP updated itself on my Firefox system to version 3.0, I can no longer press Return to submit searches. I have to type the words then press the little magnifying glass button. It was very convenient to type and hit Return with my little finger! Hopefully you can restore it.
System: Linux with Firefox 51.0.1 64-bit using Classic Theme Restorer with "Old Search" option.
