Make it easy to view historic and future news records. For example, URLs like this should work:

https://legiblenews.com/1-year-ago
https://legiblenews.com/today
https://legiblenews.com/527-hours-ago
https://legiblenews.com/100-years-from-now

and return the headlines for that day or week.

Additionally, a compelling UI should be built that makes viewing past news much more interesting and fun.
