About the author

Hello, my name is Tejas and I am a recently graduated student from the University of Maryland College Park. I finished with degrees in finance, information systems as well as pure mathematics. I am pursuing a career and further education (M.S) in the field of quantitative finance/ mathematical finance, which motivated me to study partial differential equations, considering their applications to my field.

Quick Summary

One of the major topics that was covered in my PDE's class was the solution to the so called Wave equation. A separate topic was Maxwell's equations for electricity and magnetism. I would like to create a lesson about how physicists were able to use the fact that Maxwell's equations solve the wave equation to show that light is a wave. The target audience is high school and undergraduate maths and physics students who are interested in the deep connections and revelations that math creates in physics. I hope to bring a deeper understanding of PDE's and their usefulness across fields not only from a pure math perspective but also from a physics, chemistry or even finance view.

Target medium

Ideally, due to the expected unfamiliarity of the concepts introduced, my idea would be a video lecture produced with animations for waves, the nature of light, the intuition of Maxwell's Equations and the wave equation and more. I would be looking for a creative collaborator who is familiar with creating visualizations for ideas like this that are able to provide support on the production and editing of such a video lecture.

I just know a little bit of physics, but Are this waves perpendicular to eachother in the space, right? It will be challenging to animate but end result would be amazing
