Automatically Add to iTunes Workflow – Lots of "Not Added" tracks #150

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Set output to "Automatically Add to iTunes" folder and enable "Use temporary
folder, then move to the destination"
2. Transcode FLAC to Apple Lossless whilst iTunes is open with this setting
3. Look at result in iTunes

How about the reproducibility (always, sometimes, rarely, ...)?
Always

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Tracks get added to iTunes with no problems.
Instead, some tracks appear in iTunes. A quick look at the output folder,
iTunes has created a "Not Added" folder with the tracks that were not added.
Some of these appear as M4A files, which means the user can simply drag the
tracks back into "Automatically Add to iTunes" for iTunes to try again (I
suspect this is out of your hands). Sometimes, however, tracks appear as "Unix
Executable" files: http://cl.ly/image/2T1E2J3j2F3I/content

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Version 20121222 (142.2)
Mac OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion

Please provide any additional information below.
My output folder is on an AFP share on my NAS, if that has anything to do with
it.

This seems to happen because the folder is on the different volume from the
temporary folder, and iTunes is trying to touch files still being copied. Maybe
your NAS (netatalk's behavior) is one of the causes.

How about this version? : http://tmkk.undo.jp/xld/XLD_dev_130112.zip

Maybe it would be good if the temporary folder was made on the volume where the
output folder was located? That would circumvent the problem of iTunes touching
the files as they are being copied.

What's different about the version you linked to me?

It is difficult to place temporary files on non-system volumes.

>What's different about the version you linked to me?
API use change and creating dot (hidden) file temporally not to be captured by
iTunes.

Just transcoded another CD and it's imported everything. Thanks.

Will this update make it into a release? If not I'm wondering what I will need
to do when XLD updates.

OK. Next, how about this? http://tmkk.undo.jp/xld/XLD_dev_130112-2.zip

No problem with XLD_dev_130112-2.zip (this is a bit different implementation
from the previous one)?

That's right, no problem with XLD_dev_130112-2.zip

I am only testing one album at a time, but 99% of the time it happens with just
10 just tracks. Let me try another album to double check for you.

Thanks. As long as you don't have any further problems, this change will be
applied to the next update. You can continue to use the dev version until then.
