to the next track sometimes it does not.and we have to start all over
again.close program and re start the encoding.
whether it's FLAC/ALAC/AIFF/WAV or AAC

Do not post the same thing many times.
What I need is steps to reproduce, OS version, and all information that the
template mentions.

I apologize.
I run OSX 10.4.11 with the last version of XLD.
The template? I am not sure what you mean by that.
Is it regarding what happens when it freezes once I am encoding?
It tends to freeze at about 99.7% and sometimes if finishes the
encoding.other times it doesn't and I have to re-start what is time
consuming.
I am not sure if what I am writing makes any sense to you.
I hope it helps as XLD has been quite reliable until now.
1.I open a whole album encoded to FLAC using (open folder as a disc)
2.Choose to encode as ALAC.
3.Encoding starts reaches 99.7% and sometimes freezes other times continues
to track 2.
4.Other times it freezes on track 2 and then I have to close the program.

ALAC encoding tends to stutter at ~100% because it rewrites a whole file to
append tags. This is noticeable when the output file is large, or the output
disk is slow (i.e. network drive, USB thumb drive). But it should never freeze
forever.
And does it really happen only with the latest version? I made no change around
ALAC encoder or FLAC decoder in the latest version.
You can get the old version from http://code.google.com/p/xld/downloads/list

ONLY THE LASTS VERSIONS TEND TO FREEZE.
I NOTICED YOU MENTIONED [LARGE FILES] ON YOUR EMAIL.
IN MY CASE THE FILE WAS A FLAC 24BIT/96KHZ.ALTHOUGH IT HAS HAPPENED ON
REGULAR AIFF 16BIT FILES AS WELL.

Did you really test with old versions?

Well in this case I cannot deny my MAC is not the last generation so
perhaps this is the problem.
As I said earlier your software is very good and I am satisfied with it.
Many thanks for your reply and help.

I need exact information to fix a problem. Insufficient information is just a
harm.
I made some changes to ALAC encoder in version 20130127. So if the change were
cause of the problem, version 20130127 should suffer from the problem, too.
Again, did you check with the old versions (especially with version 20130127),
after you have this problem? If not, please install the old version and check
with it.

I removed the the new program deleted all files in Library and downloaded
the new version again.
Now apparently the freezing is no longer happening.
I also used Onyx to clean the computer.
If I get any problem I will get back to you.
Many thanks for taking the time to answer all my questions.
Really appreciated.
