[Feature Request] US Localization Changes That Should Be Re-Introduced #202

Here are some improvements that were made in the US localization of MM that weren't carried over to 3DS remake. As short-hand, I'll be using JPN64, USN64 and 3D to refer to each version.

  1. In Oceanside Spider House, the pots in the mask room drop hearts or green rupees in JPN64 and 3D. USN64 changed them to have arrows (which are required for the puzzle) Demonstration

  2. In Oceanside Spider House, the upper section of the coffin room has 5 large barrels in JPN64 and 3D. USN64 changed them to 4 pots and a hookshot target. Not only does this keep you from being stuck on the lower floor and needing to reset the room, it also eliminates a visual bug where a Gold Skulltula can become stuck to an adjacent barrel! Demonstration

  3. On the road to Ikana after a sets of gates, USN64 has a sign pointing to Ikana Graveyard, which is tucked around the corner. This sign is absent in JPN64 and 3D. Demonstration

  4. USN64 revamped the cutscene that plays when you find Epona at Romani ranch. While JPN64 and 3D have just a simple zoom into Epona's pen, USN64 has the background music cut out, and has a number of different shots that follow Link as he runs over to her. I'm not sure if cutscene changes is something that can be done, but USN64 has a much more impactful story moment that should make a return if possible. Demonstration

  5. When you play the ocarina in an invalid location, the "but nothing happened" text pop up takes control away from Link in USN64. JPN64 and 3D has Link about to move around while the text stays on screen until "A" is pressed. This causes some jank when interacting with certain elements of the game. Demonstration

  6. The respawn points of two Bombchus in Termina Field were adjusted in USN64 so they are farther to the left. This was presumably done to make them less of an annoyance when slashing the grass patch or climbing up the pillar to the secret grotto (which are close to the Bombchu spawn points) Demonstration

  7. In Zora Hall, JPN64 and 3D have 4 torches you shoot with fire arrows to turn on the concert lights. USN64 reduced this number to 2. Demonstration

The 3ds version is based off of JP v1.1 this is why the features introduced in the US version are absent.
