Issues with Majora’s Wrath #236

After multiple playthroughs and fights with Majora’s Wrath in MM3D, I’ve noticed some glaring differences between the fight in the remake and the original. At the start of the battle, it plays out pretty much the same as the original, however, the problems begin to show once you deal a bit of damage to Majora’s Wrath. In the original game, Majora’s Wrath will continue to use a variety of slashes and attacks with its whips as well as some additional moves where it will attempt to grab you with its whip and throw you across the room, and a violent rapid-fire barrage of lashes. However, in the remake, Majora’s Wrath will completely stop using its variety of attacks. Instead, it will begin repeatedly spamming the whip grab and rarely switch things up, if at all. On top of this, the rapid-fire whip barrage is completely absent from the game. I’ve intentionally dragged on the battle for several minutes at a time just to see if Majora’s Wrath would ever use it, but to no avail, it’s straight up not in the game anymore for some reason. I’m pretty much certain that this is all due to oversights and lousy ai on Grezzo’s part. At the end of the fight, the spinning top attack has also been tweaked. In the Original game, Majora’s Wrath will launch the tops towards you. In the remake, it just gently sets them down on the ground at its feet. Overall, Majora’s Wrath in MM3D just feels significantly less dynamic and is almost completely missing the aggressive nature of the original fight. I’m not sure if any of these issues are fixable, but if the fight could be tweaked even slightly to more resemble the original, it would make a huge difference for the quality of the fight.
