Saw this addon features in a video by Baril3d. I made a simple operator today from the addon light wrangler. This addon can also do light brush. I did not investigate using ray cast l, seems you have already this now. That's super nice!
My versions simple works by using the 3d curso which is being placed on the geometry, it super simple setup.
