Next time, should list banned topics to avoid duplication from previous years. Anything that was very popular the year before should be banned. Also anything seen in class.
The report is worth more this year and should be given a very long deadline, probably after Easter. Set up a formative feedback assignment for the report for them a few weeks before the deadline. They can submit event/area and preliminary data.

The most common issue was people using and abusing the NDVI just because it was the only one we saw in class. Most also did the percentage calculation instead of trying something different. Some ideas to mitigate:
It would also be better if the students could submit their notebooks. Not sure how practical this would be given data sizes. But that could be a way to mark reproducibility if I have to be able to download their images to run the notebook.
