D'Deridex and Noraxan special abilities only disable while ship not attacking #186

I realize the D'Deridex and Noraxan Warbird abilities are probably
placeholders, but both have abilities that disable enemy ships.

The disabled status only lasts while the Warbird is actually casting, which
also disables the warbird's weapons limiting the effectiveness of the
spell. This is because the target buff finish condition is:

finishCondition
    finishConditionType "FirstSpawnerNoLongerHasBuff"
    buffTypeToQuery "BuffTeleportDisableCaster"

Make it a set time instead?  Also, the range of the D'Deridex ability is a
little puny.

I can submit fixes for these if desired.  I assume we're still using the same 
Live
Synch process in the immediate future.

Lol those abilities are just random vanilla abilities I stuck on them. Didn't 
change 
them at all. They should be getting different abilities of their own later.

Good, I thought that may be the case.  

Not to criticize, but I'm afraid of the Fed Cap Starships.  They kick too much 
ass
for the supply and money cost of the things (twice the supply of Akira, 4X 
HP/SP and
5X DPS!!!).  It would be nice to create some middle-power abilities for the Rom 
ships
as we fill in that won't need to be slimmed down like I fear the fed ships will 
need
to be.

Unfortunately, we just don't know enough about the Roms to really give them
good/appropriate abilities beyond the cloak.  I've tried to make an ability that
uncloaks and fires all weapons during a bombing run then re-cloaks, but getting 
it to
work correctly in combat appears unworkable (if it's range based, it happens 
when
ship is facing wrong way and ship gets creamed from behind).  How about the 
in-combat
mine laying-ability I submitted last year (for klinks at the time)?  Anybody 
ever
think it might be worth giving to the Roms?  Also, an uber-plasma torpedo may 
be a
good addition.

Well..tractor beams shouldn't be something the Romulans didn't get access to, 
so to
speak..
This probably goes for other factions as well and it would probably work well 
IF we
could make it fire only on targets without shields (otherwise it would be quite
annoying everyone having it).
In-battle mine laying ability seems also something to try, as the plasma 
torpedo as well.

Hm, it could be that the issue with your ability is that there aren't any 
ability
hardpoints set up, which means the ability will just come from the center of the
ship.  All the same, it should still be facing forward if you've set it to face
target in the ability enity file.

Facing target reqs with fighter movement is a very bad idea.

Abilities set this way will almost never fire, sending the ship spinning around 
in
futility trying to target the subject more often than not.

Might there be a way to set those abilities so that they function at the start 
of a
battle.  For instance, I imagine it's meant for the ship to enter the system 
under
cloak, target the enemy vessel, drop the cloak and fire.  In this case, the 
ability
would work spectacularly.

Maybe it could have such a long cooldown that it normally only has time to work 
once
in a battle.    

To be honest, though, it sounds like the ability is a bit superfluous itself.  
As
soon as a ship decloaks when an enemy is in range it's going to start firing
everything it's got.  I suppose it could be a way to lessen micromanaging, 
though.

dont really like the existing abilities on rommie ships. they also need attack 
abilities.

P.S. - Love the changes to the D'Deridex.  One problem: when the additional 
ships
decloak, they have high initial velocity and go spinning out into the ether.  I 
know
how to fix and will upload it.

I encountered the same problem developing the mine laying ability.

Also, note that the Disruptive Strikes ability won't help the D'Deridex in 
present
form.  It only ups the chance of a disabling strike for weapon types Plasma, 
Missile,
and Beam.  The D'Deridex weapons are Wave and PhaseMissile.  I'll fix this too,
verify, and upload fix.
