Alternative to Weather thing? #12

CSS animation with the weather thing ?

I think we just have to take care to keep simplicity in our design... If this animation don't disturb the readibility... Great idea!

Perhaps can we also playing with the users location? Playing with a dynamic map in the illustration? Adding typicall country signs? Don't now...

Perhaps can we also use the Googleanalytics to know how many people have visited the website this month/this week... And showing it in the headers illustrations, with less or more characters.

I thought about the header illustration. Something light and classy.

Random thought. Don’t focus on the idea but on the real time possibilities:

We could add the current visitors in the header (represented as characters) in real time.

When someone opens the website, a character arrives in the header for every connected person. When someone leaves the website, a character leaves.

We could also add something a bit scary, because these characters are meant to be scary :-)

Each character could read a newspaper. The back of the newspaper could represent a part of the page that is read by the visitor. When the visitor scrolls the page, the character could turn a page on the newspaper, and the back will represent the new page slice. We could even dissociate desktop and mobile users with different images!

Cool, I will open a new branch and a pull request soon, to discuss the technical details. Does someone wants to help to write a demo?

I haven't work for this point, but I think we don't have to capture an image of the current page. I think I will designed a "Newspaper/book" template, in wich we can write the title of the current page, but not any more... Perhaps could it be enought... I have to work on it, but I actually work on a global design. Soon, guys, soon. :)

In a given time, how many people are present on the website

Right now: 5 visitors. I think the system should scale from 1 to 50 or even 100 users in real time.

From where do these peoples come from? Just France?

French-speaking countries mostly, e.g. for this month:

France: 6,452 Belgium: 404 Canada: 316 Switzerland: 204 Tunisia: 112 Morocco: 111 United States: 105 United Kingdom: 101 India: 72 Germany: 54

Do these peoples visiting the same page? Differents pages?

Different pages. But when an article has recently been published, most visitors are on this article.

How many differents pages are visiting on the same time?

This is really unstable, I’d say from 1 to 30 ?

About the idea, I think we really should think outside the idea of the newspaper / spying users scrolling position. We need something better, more scalable and discrete. I just wanted to illustrate the possibilities of real time, and the idea of visitors spying each other.
