Request: Get CIA to identify to services on freenode #3

Since CIA does not identify with services on freenode, if a channel has to
to reg for voice moderation it looses CIA announcements. Since there are so
many CIA bots, it is dificult to add auto voice to them all. I would also
think that identifying would help prevent other users from faking out CIA
bot names ( not that I can see any reason why anyone would want to do that ).

Just an idea.

I will try to incorporate this as part of the bot server rewrite I'll be doing
shortly.

We use the following command to autovoice all CIA bots:

/msg ChanServ vop #channel add CIA-*!CIA@*

Something like that should work fine for you.

In thinking about it, I should have pointed out that the important part of the
command is the hostmask. The syntax will depend on on your irc server. I'm not
sure
what the syntax is on freenode, but something akin to this should work. almost
every
chanserv implementation I've heard of supports using hostmasks instead of a
nick.

So, you should simply be able to use: 'CIA-*!CIA@*'. Though it would be nice if
the
CIA bots had a more unified hostmask; something like: CIA@CIA.VC instead of
CIA@<SOME_IP>. That would simply mean less chance of someone spoofing being a
CIA bot.

(In the case that changed, the above hostmask would still work, but you'd want
to use
'CIA-*!CIA@CIA.VC' instead.)
