Birds are good, how about not a green bird so that it's distinct from Duolingo?

Maybe. Though it's only coincidental that I put a bird here, just an example of the illustrator not because of what the image is.

Things we need: appealing to parents recognisable to children, distinctive/colourful adaptable to different language versions, ie. able to place flag in image looks good at different sizes, small homescreen icon to large Play Store listing. possibly even TV

May want to consider flag colours when considering colour of logo, ie. blue or red logo may make it more likely for a background flag to cause weird conflicts with image
