I understand that this package is mostly intended to be “fun package”, but I was thinking you could use the effect to add some purpose.

Consider the following to be optional:

• run effect whenever a file gets saved (use onDidSave)
• run effect whenever a new file opens (use observeItems, I think)

If you're open to those changes, I might be able to help.

Also: Is it possible to define for how long the scrambling effect runs? That could be another “useful” option.

Yes, I'm open for changes.

Some thoughts:

• Not sure if onSave would be posible, for now i'm hooking the onWillSave event to prevent save the encoded text in the original file.
• On file open sounds great, I had an idea for a command to activate an encrypted mode and another to run the effect and see the original text.

Regarding the "time" option, the effects takes a little formula depending on the text length. Maybe can be calculated but not sure.
