In the raw data (https://github.com/lexibank/hsiuhmongmien/blob/master/raw/HM_official.tsv), there are some tones with /1, /2...etc. Are these the labels for tone categories?

Yes, I think so.

Maybe you write Andy and ask him?

Sure, I can take a look. But I don't see the file though (404 error).

Strange, that you can't see that. It is about entries that look like the following: nze⁵³/2 @MacyL wants to know if the /2 refers to one of the inferred tonal categories (like ping shang qu ru in Chinese yinyunxue).

For the tonal categories like "2", see: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Proto-Tai#Tones

@LinguList, this has to do indeed with tone categories (also whether they are voiced or voiceless). is there a plan to do something with this (I'm asking in the context of the lexibank 2.0 release)? right now the cliff conversion does not include this.

MuffinLinwist commented 2 months ago

@LinguList brief reminder so we can have this issue resolved for the lexibank 2.0 release.

LinguList commented 2 months ago

@MuffinLinwist fixed now.
