Contact Notifications - SMS vs. Email #99

I have several "Contact Notifications" configured on my Motorola Droid.  
Up until your latest software release, messages received via SMS from cell 
phones "AND" from an email addresses worked correctly and provide the 
custom notification configured in the software.

In the newest release, messages received from contact email addresses, no 
longer alert properly, and only utilize the standard notification.

Is this a design change or a software defect?

This is a defect and is fixed in the next version.
