O.K. Despite the above reservations, I've gallantly decided to (in order):

  1. Merge this pull request as is.
  2. Manually replace app-vim/powerline/powerline-vim-2.3.ebuild with a symlink to the existing app-vim/powerline/powerline-vim-9999.ebuild.

If you could locally modify your release scripts to symlink rather than copy new powerline-vim ebuilds, that'd be swell. Cheers, ZyX!
