I downloaded spotify from the microsoft store and it started working.

Sorry for the late response. It has been so long to replicate the error and now, I have found the main cause of the issue.

A Spotify app installed from the Microsoft Store will work, but not if installed from the website. I do not know what causes the issue, but it happened to me.

There are some posts stating that Spotify installed from the Microsoft Store will not work, but it will if installed directly from the Spotify website. See here for more information.

Download links are available here. Click "Get it from Microsoft" for the Microsoft Store installation or "Download directly from Spotify" for the website download.

EDIT: Okay, so closing the Spotify app after installing causes the skin to not detect it. I need to investigate more of this.

It's really quite hacky, but if you open the Web player and switch the provider on Rainmeter to WebPlayingNow it works alright. Media controls don't work, but it's better than nothing.

This is the only solution I can use because my Windows doesn't connect to the Microsoft Store...

It seems that some Rainmeter skins that uses NowPlaying plugins just suddenly stopped, especially with Windows 11 users.

I think the better fix for this is to get rid of the NowPlaying plugin and use WebNowPlaying instead.
