Mission Statement

Quantifying scope 3 emission to generate actionable insights

Description

Oil and Gas companies face extreme pressure to address GHG emissions. Proactively addressing scope 3 emissions for suppliers and other cases could help improve scope 3 accountability. Such data and insights can help an organization to come up with a mitigation plan.

Is this a new project or an existing one?

Existing Shell Project

Shell

Detail any existing community infrastructure, including:

supplychains.shell.com

Are there any specific infrastructure needs or requests outside of what is provided normally by LF Energy ? If so please detail them.

None

Why would this be a good candidate for inclusion in LF Energy?

A lot of companies are aiming for a Net Zero future and one of the toughest challenge is to account for scope 3 emissions, it is difficult to account and depends a lot on suppliers. Scope3E is a right fit for this problem, it has been developed by Shell to tackle the problems related to accountability of scope 3 emission. Scope3E will probably fit in Emission - 'Carbon Intensity & Accounting' of LFE Landscape.

How would this benefit from inclusion in LF Energy?

Scope3E has a lot of potential but needs multiple user's perspective to be more effective in generating actionable insight for scope 3 emissions. We believe inclusion in LF Energy will enable that, LFE's platform will provide the much needed exposure

Provide a statement on alignment with the mission in the LF Energy charter.

Scope3E will enable accountability for scope 3 emission, leading to generate actionable insights, which can help the user to decarbonise and progress towards Net zero transition.

What specific need does this project address?

Scope3E enable the user to see scope 3 emissions, which are primarily generated by suppliers.

Describe how this project impacts the energy industry.

This project will help energy companies to assess their scope 3 emissions and provide insights so that they can come up with transition plan to reduce scope 3 emission.

Describe how this project intersects with other LF Energy projects/working groups/special interest groups.

Scope3E can seamlessly integrates with Emission category, and is a right fit to 'Carbon Intensity & Accounting'.

Who are the potential benefactors of this project?

Scope3E was primarily made for companies in the Energy industry and its supply chain to exchange carbon emissions but going forward can be applied for any company with plans to reduce their scope 3 emission.

What other organizations in the world should be interested in this project?

Oil&Gas companies can leverage this solution to meet their emission targets. Additionally, companies with significant emissions that fall in scope of climate regulation OR companies providing software solutions to the organizations described before.

Plan for growing in maturity if accepted within LF Energy

Shell is committed to provide the know-how and discussed the maturity plan if gets accepted.
