In theory the D803 is based on the D801, so the firmware is almost interchangable. However simply flashing the D801 firmware will cause the phone to get stuck in QHSUSB_BULK mode. I can build the ROM for the D803, no problem, its just the lack of the firmware that isn't good.
@Rashed97 - that is what the bug is precisely about.
The firmware can't be flashed without any modifications, it'll brick it. It needs some modification. And the g2 pro is even more different.
@Rashed97 thanks for the reply. For the G Pro 2, then how come a stock ROM is running on the D803 with all functionality ? I might be wrong, but do you need any further details of this particular ROM to figure out of the firmware is compatible ?
I'm willing to take out the time - I only mention the G Pro 2, because it is looking extremely unlikely that LG will release D803 update/kernel source. So we will need to figure out some alternate method.
thanks for your time!
The G Pro 2 uses a snapdragon 801, so it's still msm8974, but the firmware is a bit different. More so than the d801
@Rashed97 - ok. thanks for the info. I guess deriving a firmware from the G Pro 2 is a no go.
@rashed97 I believe that gpro 2 use snapdragon 800 too, not 801 Source: http://m.lg.com/in/mobile-phones/lg-G-Pro-2-D838
@Rashed97 just to let you know that the D803 is accepting CloudyG2 3.1 in the following sequence:
Everything seems to work.Nobody knows why !!!
We have 100% working d803 builds already without any fixes.

@Rashed97 - may I ask if there is an official lg-devs sanctioned d803 build anywhere ? obviously because of LG Canada's refusal to give an update, the forums are full of people trying various things (and bricking stuff). The D803_Patch_Rom simple_all.zip was the first that anyone got a D803 working with Lollipop stock. It would be awesome if you had a better way.
@Rashed97 any news here?
@Rashed97 I keep seeing that you have working D803 builds. Where can I download them? I'd like to use them.
because of the LG refusal to release D803 LP update, we are trying to figure out an alternative way. It seems that there are custom stock ROMs of LG G Pro 2 which work brilliantly on the D803. This post (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=61079612&postcount=130) and this post (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=61082548&postcount=133) should show the state of working of the ROM. The original source of this update from LG is here (http://opensource.lge.com/osSch/list?types=ALL&search=d838) and this is the ROM built for the D803 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=61073155&postcount=126)
if there are specific baseband/kernel/adsp IMG files that you need from a running installation - could you please let us know how to extract them. Would be very helpful if we could figure out if this is the correct path to follow.
