Lightroom currently shows this message if I click on "+ Add Photos" > [click on an SD card]:
No images that can be imported were found in the selected source.
If you are importing from a phone, please make sure it's unlocked. You may also need to put it in Airplane Mode.
This happens whether the SD card is directly inserted into the computer or a hub.
https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-cc/kb/known-issues.html lists a known issue:
When you try to import photos from a camera for the second time, you get No images that can be imported were found in the selected source message.
Workaround:
Do one of the following:
- Unplug the camera and plug it back.
- Restart Lightroom.
- Use browser to import photos from the camera.
I'm currently relying on the last bullet, but I want to find a proper fix.
Hmm, Lightroom's behaviour seems to actually depend on the SD card. Some can be accessed, some can't.
I've observed issues with the following apps not being able to access files despite being able to enumerate volumes and list folders:
I don't know if it's a coincidence that these are both camera-related apps.
In the case of Adobe Lightroom, it seems the app lost access to files on a computer, after having had access for months. In the case of Canon Cinema RAW Development, I'm not able to get file access working on one computer, but I've had no issue on another.
Fiddling around in macOS system prefs doesn't seem to work. I've tried revoking and re-granting permissions, explicitly giving full disk access... nothing has worked.
It feels like there is an additional hidden permission that has been revoked from them — sort of like how permissions can be granted specifically only for some folders. But I can't figure out what it is.
