3rd-person view is quite nice, but the displays in the cockpit view are quite useful. Unfortunately, the most important time to transition between these if you're an urgent situation (e.g. combat), when the gear UI takes a few seconds without pausing the game (thus subjecting you to a whole bunch of extra damage).[^1]

This makes it impossible to bring up the screenshot UI without pausing all other actions (flying, shooting, etc.), which can make it tricky to get a correctly positioned frame and/or an "action" shot in some situations.
The number of button presses needed to bring up the screenshot UI is also non-deterministic. But fortunately it's on the very right of the top-level gear menu, so you can spam the right button 4-5 times an it will usually work.
