Refiners on my freighter very often lose their contents. I regularly return to my freighter to find that some or all of the refiners contain nothing.
Weirdly, the data still appears to be present in some form. If I leave the freighter and return, the items in the refiner will usually come back sooner or later. But this is definitely an incentive against ever leaving anything valuable in the refiner running in the background, lest I accidentally put in something else while the items are in refiner limbo.
