No Man's Sky: Terrain inside a base can develop huge buggy patches you can fall through #188

I hollowed out a little peak in my main base in order to build a staircase in it. This left a whole bunch of buggy terrain on the surface that fails to render, and will often drop you through when you walk/land on it. It's usually possible to get out of it without too much trouble, but it can cause confusing or time-consuming edge cases.

I've solved my particular issue by building up enough castle walkways that most of the buggy patches are covered up, but it's still quite visible from some angles.

Fortunately, this seems to be a fairly harmless issue — basically a visual glitch with no performance drawbacks — as long as you don't land/walk on the relevant areas.

This may be related to https://github.com/lgarron/first-world/issues/186 , although I haven't experienced resets with my main patches of buggy terrain. (The resets in my main base tended to happen in the early days, with some rock that formed part of the ceiling.)

Example of a patch several units across (the entire center of the image is supposed to be the top of a hill, and instead we can see like 30u into the base):
