Side menu involuntary popup problem #928

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. While reading, the menu pops up by itself

Please provide any additional information below.

I can't seem to hold the tablet in any way that prevents the side menu from 
popping up all by itself.  I'd like to disable it completely and just rely on 
the menu buttons at the top of the screen.  This is maddening.
