This is what I'm currently using to deploy cache-gc to my Hydra and I thought I'd share it ;-)

Changes:

Use a flake.nix and move the package build to the flake.
Use Nix 2.9 (working fine for me). Also saves a Nix rebuild because the nix path-info patch is part of that release.
Add a NixOS module that creates a service and (optionally) a timer to run cache-gc.
Add backwards-compat code for people who prefer to use stable Nix features only.
