Currently, Bible verses are downloaded from http://www.biblegateway.com/ in
realtime - does BibleGateway.com show Bible in the language you're looking for?
If so, then the support for your language (at least in the Bible module) is
very easy - I'll just update it with the proper language code so you can select
that Bible in the Bible tab.

However, if BibleGateway.com does not support your langague, I can work to
update DViz to support "offline" Bibles loaded from disk instead of over the
internet. Does http://www.churchsw.org/church-software-project support the
language you're looking for in Bibles and Songs? If so, I can try to update
DViz to support their data format so you can import Bible texts directly from
their datafiles.

From what I gather from your report, the two areas you've requested better
multilingual support is Bible (addressed above), and Songs. Implicit in your
request I would imagine is the User Interface as well (e.g. things like
translating the "File" menu options to your language, etc.)

As far as Songs go - the current database supplied with DViz is (obviously) all
English. Are you looking for the database to be pre-loaded with songs in your
target language? Or is there a flaw/bug/etc in the way DViz handles your
language that prevents you from adding new songs in your target language?

Obviously, if churchsw has your language in Songs as well, the updates I do for
the Bible module would make it possible to also import the songs they have in
your language.

I guess it comes down to a question of "Data" and "Functionality." If all that
is lacking in supporting your language is a lack of "Data" (e.g. Bible verses
or Songs database), then we just need to find a provider of "Data" for DViz
that has your language and I'll try to make DViz compatible with that provider.

However, a much bigger concern for me is if their is some "Functionality" in
DViz that makes it not work for your language - if that's the case, please do
let me know what specific functionality in DViz makes it hard (or impossible)
to work with your language and I'll try to get those things fixed as well.

So, in closing, please let me know about (a) BibleGateway and your language,
(b) churchsw and your language for both Songs and Bible, and (c) is their some
part of DViz functionality that needs improved/fixed to handle your language?

Thanks for the issue report!

our language is not found in the bible gateway instead it is there in the
churchsw bible and songs in tamil language, iam new to this and while
trying to check with some of the features the software gets halted and
asked for error wait for the software to respond (win 7)

i was inspired with your specifications regarding the live video
presentation with the verses and songs, what i was searching is a
projection with live video (church ceremony) in the centre and the text
songs or the verses in teh top or bottom area of the video like
professional presentation.

I've published a new build of DViz for Windows, built on Windows 7 - you can
download it from the front page of this project, or click the following link:
http://dviz.googlecode.com/files/dviz-r1020.zip

Please do try that build and let me know if it crashes ("looking for
errors"/"waiting for software to respond").

As for live video - typically the way we do it at our church is we set up a
separate machine to do the video mixing (switch cameras, overlay video
graphics, etc) - I have a separate project on Google Code, livepro:
http://code.google.com/p/livepro/ - I use that do do the mixing of video.

Then I set up DViz to output "raw" video frames to livepro - and livepro
overlays the graphics it receives from DViz onto the live video feed - and you
can then display the live video feed wherever you want (front of house, CCTV,
or streaming online.)

You can set up custom templates with properly-designed secondary groups to
display the verses/songs as upper- or lower-thirds for the secondary output,
then send the secondary output of DViz over the wire to livepro, which will use
those as the overlays. Feel free to ask more questions and I can explain it all
in detail if you'd like.

No attachment came thru on the issues list. Can you email me the PPT file at
josiahbryan@gmail.com? I mainly need it to find out what font to use for
testing with tamil.

I'll see what I can do to get data imported from churchsw!

I've posted a Wiki page over in the livepro project of the setup used at PHC:
http://code.google.com/p/livepro/wiki/LiveProSetupAtPHC (click the image on
that page to get a PDF of the layout) - I know it's rather light on technical
details to duplicate the setup, but it gives an idea of what a real-life setup
looks like. I'll try to post more technical details sometime, but in the mean
time, feel free to ask any questions on it and I'll be glad to try and answer
them as best I can.

I'm working on converting the Tamil Bible text into something that DViz can
use, and I've just tested converting the string "Genesis" from the database
Tamil encoding into a UTF8 string:

ஆதியாகமம

Does that look right? (Right characters, right word in Tamil, etc)

Thanks!

Dear Bro,

i appreciate your effort in tamil, the last letter ஆதியாகமம
should be as ஆதியாகமம்

The latest download should properly handle Tamil language Bibles - download
Windows 7 build at
http://code.google.com/p/dviz/downloads/detail?name=dviz-r1038.zip - you'll
want to select the button beside the Bible version list (brings up the Bible
Download window)

Go down the list and select the "Tamil" Bible (click the checkbox). DViz will
download the Tamil Bible from the internet
(http://www.mybryanlife.com/dviz-bibles/) Then close the Bible download window
and the version list will update automatically. Select "Tamil" from the list
and it should now properly display Tamil language Bible verses (and book names).

That takes care of the Bible, but you also mentioned Tamil *songs* in ChurchSW
- do you have a database file you can send that I can try to convert? Or is
there a Tamil song file included in the churchsw download?

Thanks!
-Josiah
