Stripe currently gives us access to 12 payment methods, but we only use 2 of them:

+1 for Bancontact, also pretty low rate on stripe iirc and it's the 1# payment method in Belgium

Changaco commented 4 years ago

I haven't added Bancontact and the others because I don't really like the idea of supporting national payment schemes.

Another reason not to bother is that these payment methods are single-use, so they're not suitable for automatically renewed donations. They would be more interesting if we supported one-off donations (#415).

Received a +1 for Alipay and WeChat Pay via email:

Users in mainland China cannot use Paypal, maybe you can try to connect to Wechat pay or Alipay, they use these two a lot.

Introducing the Payment Element

When we launched Stripe Elements in 2017, our goal was to make it easier to build customized checkout flows that help maximize conversion. Increasingly, a critical piece of optimizing conversion is allowing your customers to pay how they want to pay—whether that be with a credit card, a mobile wallet, an installment plan, or a local payment method. Not surfacing the right option can significantly impact your bottom line—16% of consumers have abandoned a checkout page because their preferred payment option was not available. That’s why today we’re introducing our biggest upgrade since we first launched Elements: the Payment Element, an embeddable UI component that supports 18 payment methods with a single integration.

+1 for India's UPI via email:

Along with considering adding a payment processor called UPI (United Payments Interface) by the Indian Govt (apparently it has gone international) in the distant future

Stripe seems to have semi-hidden support for UPI. Liberapay would have to request access.
