This thread is for general updates about the Liberapay org.

I've initiated a payout (the first ever) to our bank account, so that it won't be empty anymore, and also to test that payouts are working fine:

I've just received MangoPay's invoice for March, and I'm happy to report that #9 worked as expected. \o/

Our surplus this month is €0.04. Surpluses are due to rounding and are inevitable considering how MangoPay does invoices. I'm not sure what we should do with them, but since the amounts are so small we can figure it out later.

MangoPay's invoice for April has arrived, we have a surplus of 4 cents like last month.

I've renewed our two domain names (liberapay.{com,org}) for a year. Total is €32.95. The org currently doesn't have enough money to reimburse me.

I've also created a separate Gandi account for the org. I wanted to transfer the domains to it, but that costs 6 euros per name, so instead I gave the org account administrative, technical, and billing control.

Ok I will increase a little bit my contribution Liberapay to try to tend to the positive balance.

We've just received the May invoice from MangoPay, our surplus is €0.39. That's ten times higher than the previous months.

I'm going to resume my work on improving how we compute fees.

https://github.com/liberapay/liberapay.com/pull/349 has been merged and deployed. Now we just have to keep our fingers crossed and wait for the next invoice. :D

The June invoice from MangoPay has just arrived, our surplus is €0.20.

We've just received the July invoice from MangoPay, they think we owe them 24.56 euros. sigh

I've done the math for the month of July, we have a deficit of €0.01, that's not ideal but it's negligible, so I've sent an email to MangoPay contesting their €24.56 invoice.

MangoPay only admitted a small mistake in their invoice and are saying that we still owe them €24.16. I am losing patience.

I sent them another email yesterday trying to explain the situation differently, they're maintaining the position that we owe them €24.16.

I've lost enough time on this, it's time to decide if we're okay with sending them 24 euros to get them off our backs. We currently have €3.89 in our bank account and €64.48 in our Liberapay wallet. Of those, €2.17 should be returned to MangoPay anyway, so really we'd "only" be paying €21.99 out of our own pocket.

@MarionRousseaux @MartinDelille @Zatalyz MangoPay nous réclame 24,16 €, et j'ai beau leur expliquer qu'ils ont tort (on ne leur doit que 0,01 €) rien n'y fait. Êtes-vous d'accord pour qu'on paie la facture afin qu'ils nous foutent la paix ? Nous avons actuellement 3,89 € dans notre compte bancaire et 64,48 € dans notre compte Liberapay. Là-dedans il y a 2,17 € qu'on devrait rendre à MangoPay de toute façon, donc en net on paierait "seulement" 21,99 €.

@MartinDelille I got an automated reply saying you currently have limited access to your emails.

I don't understand all in mail. Refund seems complicate calculation, but they don't appear clearly in mangopay invoice. I think it's a good way if Martin call Mangopay first ; maybe they explain better on phone, and speak with an other people can help to have an other point of view.

So, I vote not paying anything for now, wait call of Martin. No urgency to pay, we have some days ?


Je n'ai pas tout compris dans les mails. Le remboursement semble avoir mis le bazar dans les calculs, mais ça n’apparaît pas clairement sur la facture envoyée par Mangopay. Je pense que c'est une bonne chose que Martin voit pour un éclaircissement avant de prendre une décision ; peut-être que Mangopay expliquera mieux au téléphone, et un autre interlocuteur pourra aider à avoir un point de vue complémentaire.

Donc je vote "ne pas payer tout de suite, attendre le retour de Martin". Pas d'urgence pour payer, on a quelques jours ?

I doubt calling will accomplish something, but if someone wants to try: the guy's phone number is in the emails I sent you all in private. If you want to send an email, the address is finance@mangopay.com.

Following @MartinDelille's phone call and emails, MangoPay detailed their calculations, and I identified two problems, the big one being that they didn't account for VAT. So, I've asked them if we really have to pay VAT on transactions that have been reimbursed.


Suite au coup de fil et aux courriels de @MartinDelille, le comptable de MangoPay a détaillé ses calculs, et j'ai identifié deux problèmes, le plus important étant qu'ils n'ont pas pris en compte la TVA. J'ai donc demandé si nous devons payer la TVA sur des transactions qui ont été remboursées.

Patience. :-) We're not their only clients you know, they probably have other things to deal with. Moreover they may not actually have the answer to the question I asked and thus need to research it.

MangoPay invoice for September: we owe them €6.42. Most of that was expected and is due to https://github.com/liberapay/salon/issues/52#issuecomment-244736348. I'm going to pay this from my personal bank account.

Just received the MangoPay invoice for October: we have a surplus of €8.85. :confused:

I've found the problem: MangoPay's pricing says 2.50€ per payout outside of SEPA, so we withhold 2.92€ (2.50 + 17% VAT), but MangoPay isn't charging us for these payouts (they don't appear on the invoices at all), so we end up with a surplus.

The payout fee discrepancy is a bug in MangoPay's software.

We have another case of MangoPay banning a user. I'm inclined to agree on this one. I have suspended the account.

I'm going to have to do refunds again. /o\ This time it's a small amount though, and we won't be refunding the fees.

We've just received the MangoPay invoice for November: we only have a small surplus of €0.06. :-)
