If you have any questions about translating Liberapay, post them here.

finkiki commented 8 years ago

Cannot translate anymore.

Changaco commented 8 years ago

You mean you were locked? That's because I was reviewing your translations, I'll continue that later, I've released the lock now.

Changaco commented 8 years ago

@finkiki Hold on, I forgot to update the translation files.

finkiki commented 8 years ago

ok

Changaco commented 8 years ago

Done.

finkiki commented 8 years ago

Maybe it can be nice to find a pretty name to liberapay users. I think about "liberapayeur" even if "payeur" is not a word that people like very much.

Changaco commented 8 years ago

"payeur" doesn't really work because it only designates givers, not receivers.

finkiki commented 8 years ago

Done, you just have to review translations, espacially the fuzzy ones, depending to the context.

Changaco commented 8 years ago

Actually there are more strings to translate, but I have to review and merge your translations before I can update the catalogs (one of Weblate's shortcomings). I've spotted misspellings (typos) in your translations, so I've been making a script that supports spellchecking .po files (because again, Weblate doesn't have this feature).

Changaco commented 8 years ago

Catalog updated, we're at 94%. I've fixed some misspellings and merged your translations without review, I'll correct the other mistakes I've spotted later.

Changaco commented 8 years ago

I've taken care of fuzzy and broken translations in https://github.com/liberapay/liberapay.com/pull/83 and through Weblate. I still have to do a more thorough review of all new translations though. We're at 97% with only 17 strings left.

Changaco commented 8 years ago

100% \o/

finkiki commented 8 years ago

Nice.

Note: Weblate can send you a notification email when there are new strings to translate: https://hosted.weblate.org/accounts/profile/#subscriptions

revi commented 8 years ago

{0} is already connected to a different Liberapay account.

{0} is the external account trying to connect to liberapay, right? Just to be confident...

Changaco commented 8 years ago

Welcome, and thanks for contributing. :-)

In this case {0} is an email address.

revi commented 8 years ago

Thanks for the greetings! :D

And I'd like to leave Liberapay in English word in translation words, is it fine? (I can just write in Korean if necessary but I want to avoid this.)

Changaco commented 8 years ago

Yes. We don't try to translate the site's name everywhere, so it would be weird if it was translated in some messages.

Changaco commented 8 years ago

The new Korean translations have been merged and deployed. I've invited @revi to the Liberapay team.

Changaco commented 8 years ago

Thanks to @mcl1234 our Spanish and Italian translations are at ~100%! \o/

Changaco commented 8 years ago

Question from @revi in IRC:

revi> https://hosted.weblate.org/translate/liberapay/core/ko/?sid=907e6002-a718-11e6-85d8-5254000d9bae&offset=20 ("If you want to create an account for a collective that doesn't have a legal entity, create a personal account first, then {0} create a team{1}") revi> what does the {0} and {1} mean? revi> I want some way to tell translator what {0} and {1} means revi> We can't guess what it is and where it is used until someone reports the stupid strings somewhere (which is usually unlikely) or I find it (more likely :P)

My answer:

Changaco> it's markup for a link, when you see placeholders enclosing a few words it's always some kind of markup

Certified articles of association (Statute) - formal memorandum stated by the entrepreneurs, in which the following information is mentioned: business name, activity, registered address, shareholding…

Can this string modified not to end with ...? I can't save the translation string because it didn't have ... and it looks awkward to have ....

Hello, I would like to have the opportunity to translate into Romanian, but the language is not even on the list... what is the procedure to get it added? I have already a liberapay account and just made a hosted.weblate.org account, my username on both site is "dasj"

jorgesumle commented 6 years ago

Logged in, at the bottom of the page https://hosted.weblate.org/projects/liberapay/core/ there is a button with the text "Start a New Translation". Click that and you'll see something like the image below. Select your language and request it. bildschirmfoto vom 2018-03-14 22-22-41

dasj19 commented 6 years ago

thanks @jorgesumle... apparently I missed that link. I requested now a new translation.

Changaco commented 6 years ago

Romanian has been added: https://hosted.weblate.org/projects/liberapay/core/ro/

dasj19 commented 6 years ago

Thanks a lot @Changaco. I have already started translating, it's at 2% now and I will continue translating offline as it best suits me.. so you will not see the translation evolution live as it happens... but I strive to upload the translation every two days or so.

Now I wonder about when the website gets updated to include the newly translated strings and when does one qualify to be a member of the Liberapay team.

Changaco commented 6 years ago

Now I wonder about when the website gets updated to include the newly translated strings

When I run release.sh.

when does one qualify to be a member of the Liberapay team

We have no written rules for this, basically anyone who has contributed can join. I've just sent you an invite.

ddevault commented 6 years ago

Just put in a fair bit of Japanese, but a good chunk of it could use more context to give a more correct translation. Is there a way to see where each snippet is in use on the site? There was also a fair bit of duplication in the English source text.

dasj19 commented 6 years ago

I just completed the Romanian translation. However the stats were showing 98% in weblate, there were 23 strings which were shown as untranslated even though I translated them offline and uploaded the file. I completed them using the weblate interface... i don't know if it was a weblate issue or some other issue.

Anyways it's 100% now, I will continue to look for errors while I use the platform.

trebmuh commented 6 years ago

nice job @dasj19 :+1:

jorgesumle commented 6 years ago

Review some warnings from Weblate; dismiss them clicking on the 'x' under "Things to check" (they may help you detect some errors). When you finish that, the bar will be completely green.

I can see 100.0% translated in the stats from Weblate.

dasj19 commented 6 years ago

Thanks a lot @jorgesumle I didn't knew that you can dismiss those checks. Now it looks cleaner.

dasj19 commented 6 years ago

Hello, I am trying to figure out why there is a space between the procent number and the procent sign in the language chooser for the Romanian translation.

selection

I can not find anywhere in the .po file where there is a space before thre procent sign. Anyone has any clue on where to look for this issue?

Changaco commented 6 years ago

@dasj19 That number formatting is done by Babel, which is based on the Unicode Common Locale Data Repository.

comradekingu commented 4 years ago

@Changaco How can a project offer up the project message for translation?

Changaco commented 4 years ago

@comradekingu I don't know what you're referring to. Can you clarify?

comradekingu commented 4 years ago

@Changaco So every project has this message explaining what the effort is about. It is possible to translate this, but ideally it could be put on the translation platform the project uses. Weblate for Remmina.

Hi,

I would like to help translate Liberapay to Basque. I see there are components in Basque language but "Core" isn't there.
