Email from Stripe:
Hello Liberapay,
Good news: to help you meet the needs of your European customers, we are lowering our fees for SEPA Debit and iDEAL. Offering local payment methods can help you satisfy local preferences and increase your conversion rates. No action is needed to accept the new pricing—it will be automatically applied to your account.
What’s changing?
Starting 1 November 2021, your Stripe fee for each successful SEPA Debit transaction will be a flat fee of €0.35 (reduced from the previous fee of 0.8% + €0.25), and the fee for each successful iDEAL transaction will be €0.29 (reduced from €0.45). These prices will apply to Stripe accounts in Europe only [0], and will not apply to accounts outside of these countries.
What do I need to do?
There’s no action needed from you to apply the new pricing Starting 1 November 2021, every successful transaction for SEPA Debit and iDEAL will be charged the new fees. If you have any questions about this change, please contact us (https://support.stripe.com/contact/login/).
To learn more about local payment methods and how to integrate, please review our documentation (https://stripe.com/docs/payments/payment-methods/overview).

The change from 0.8% + €0.25 to €0.35 means that direct debits of less than €13 would have a higher fee percentage, whereas debits of higher amounts would have a lower fee percentage.

Global support for Chinese payment methods
Today we're adding support for China UnionPay in the UK and the European Union, making it even easier for global businesses to sell to Chinese buyers.
Did you see Plausible's post about their growth?
This was the key slide, IMO:
Not sure what the goals are for Liberapay these days, but I couldn't help but think of yinz when reading this Plausible post. What if ... ? :)
What if I had a coworker who focused on everything other than writing code? Well, the development of Liberapay might speed up considerably, and with any luck Liberapay would start growing again. If anyone here is interested in working with me on Liberapay (or knows someone who might be), I would be happy to discuss it. The Liberapay team still doesn't receive enough donations to properly remunerate two full time workers, but there is some money available for a new member (I would lower my take to share the income).
This is Liberapay's quarterly "what's up?" thread. Previous: #449.
