The authors’ responses to the points outlined in the decision letter.

User Stories

As an author I want to include figures, tables, videos and equations in my author response so that I can illustrate my responses to the reviewers comments.
As an author I want to be able to edit the text in my author response so that I correct any errors.

As production staff I want to be able to see the placement of the author response within the production proof so that I can check that the system has inserted it into the correct place.
As production staff I need to be able to edit an author response so that I can make typo corrections when they are needed.
As a production staff I want to be able to edit figures, tables, videos and equations so that I can make sure the proof is correct.
As production staff I want to be able to check the contributor information for a decision letter so that I can be sure that the details are correct.
As production staff, I need to be able to easily tell apart reviewer comments and author responses so that I do not confuse the two.
As production staff I want to be able to check the Author response DOI so that I can confirm it has been added correctly.
As production staff I want to be able to add and edit assets (figures, tables, videos) so that I can fix any errors in processing.

Author responses can include the following
- No boilerplate though editorial includes notes in the text (usually bracketed)
- The text, containing quoted sections of the DL are included, interspersed with the authors’ responses
- Author response images, Author response tables, Author response videos
- Equations
- DOI
In order to ensure that they can be distinguished from main article content on the published figures and data tab, figure, table, video and equation assets in Author responses need to follow a different naming pattern from the main article. e.g. (Author response image 1, Author response table 1, Author response video 1).
Any citations in the author response should be retained as plain text, not changed to live links to the main article assets, reference list etc. This is to ensure that the author response is self-contained and because figure numbering may change between the letter being drafted and the article being accepted. Also, any references cited in the author response should not be added to the main article reference list as they are not official citations that should be added to the citation metrics of the cited article
Contributor information: We may get to the point where the author of the response is just the corresponding author or select authors of the paper and so they need to get credit for this document.
