Breadth of this community? #56

I'm in the process of building a production app based on these techniques, and as I do so I'm wondering - is this a reasonable place to share war stories and exchange tips? Steven, was that your intent in creating this project? As an example, I'm currently struggling mightily with attaching ndk-gdb to my Android app. That's not exactly in the domain of this source project, but I'd love to participate in a community of people trying to make native C++ development great on mobile.

skabbes commented 9 years ago

This is as good of a place as any, in my opinion. Obviously, github isn't really well suited for that, but neither is an undiscoverable forum.

A Slack instance that we could invite people to might be cool, but so far - I wouldn't know who to invite. Is anyone else interested in this sort of thing? A C++ on mobile open forum?

andrewsardone commented 9 years ago

I'm interested! But if it's a small crew, GitHub issues might be fine for now.

dixitpeeyush commented 9 years ago

Count me in too. I am exploring C++ development on mobile for cross platform business logic and found these techniques very powerful and great starting steps in this direction.

hamedmohammadi commented 9 years ago

i'm in too it's been several month i was searching and i think this is where i want to try , learn and share my experience (if i've got any ;) )

kabram commented 9 years ago

This is radical stuff! I'm playing catchup with all that you've been working on for the last year! Been working on production apps with Xamarin for the last few years and now looking at going back to c++ using these techniques. How's it going?

kabram commented 9 years ago

Anyone have any war stories or repos to share using Djinni?

skabbes commented 9 years ago

Hmm, war stories? I have more war stories about not using djinni (but still trying to use c++ over the JNI manually).

kabram commented 9 years ago

Was just interested in hearing if anyone had any experiences to share as from the original issue post this might be "a reasonable place to share war stories and exchange tips". I'm really interested in databinding to view models and if anyone had expanded on the example towards a binding mechanism common in MVVM, like ReactiveCocoa/Robobinding/MVVMCross.

Looks like someone has mx3.slack.com. Is that this community or someone else? I would be totally game for starting a Slack dedicated to discussing cross platform mobile development in C++...as an engineer at Slack charged with exploring that very topic!

DEGoodmanWilson commented 9 years ago

OK, what the heck, right? I've started a slack for discussion at https://mobilecpp.slack.com. If there's interest, let me know, and let's work out a system for invites!

andrewsardone commented 9 years ago

@DEGoodmanWilson I'd appreciate an invitation!

Thanks!

Invites sent. There has to be a better way to manage this…

andrewsardone commented 9 years ago

@DEGoodmanWilson you could host a Slackin page a la the Reactiflux channel.
